The watch is remarkably light and agile, and even its bracelet (introduced in 2021) is crafted to a standard that is virtually unrivaled in the market today. It is no wonder that when new CEO Antonio Calce began reshaping the company’s strategy in 2021, he placed this entirely new case design at the heart of his vision.
For Greubel Forsey, what began as an innovation within the realm of sports watches has since evolved into a cornerstone of their product strategy—as evidenced by the current collections featured on the brand’s official website, which include the "Convexe" (convex) line alongside their other offerings. The elliptical case imposes new requirements on the movement architecture; while this introduces certain constraints, it also opens up fresh creative possibilities for the designers. This has led to the development of novel solutions—such as the gear train and hand bridges that arch over the movement in the GMT Sport, or the 30-degree inclined surfaces used to secure the balance wheel in the Balancier Convexe S² and Balancier S models.
