Is working alone realistic

Greetings! I'm planning to install about 12 screw piles for a small cabin foundation next month. I'm reasonably fit and comfortable with physical work, so I'm thinking of doing this solo with a manual pile driver to save on labor costs. Is working alone realistic, or am I setting myself up for problems?

Greetings! While it's technically possible to work alone, having a second person makes the job significantly easier and safer. One person can operate the driver while the other constantly monitors the level and checks alignment. This is especially important for a cabin foundation where precision matters. That said, if you must work solo, just be extra methodical - set up your level, check frequently, and take breaks to avoid fatigue-related mistakes. The guidance at https://tips-for-working-with-piles.blogspot.com/2025/07/how-to-choose-pile-driver-for-screw.html recommends working with two people for speed and safety. For 12 piles, having help would probably cut your time in half and ensure better results. Maybe consider at least having someone for the first few until you get the rhythm down?
